Facebook Just Introduces Marketplace, A Platform for Buying and Selling

Earlier today, Facebook unveiled the Marketplace feature which assists users in buying and selling of items. This initiative is not a new one, the tech giant introduced something similar around nine years ago.
With over 757 million daily users on Facebook, around 450 million active users are already making use of Facebook groups to buy and sell each month in their locality. Facebook Marketplace is fully functional on the Facebook app for iPhone and Android for now.

By tapping on the shop icon positioned at the bottom of the Facebook app, users are directed to a home page with an assortment of photos of items listed by nearby users. The search option can be used to refine your results based on location, category or price.
To contact sellers, messages can be sent as users’ real profiles and the details of the product are easily accessible. Marketplace is completely free to use. Selling an item involves uploading a photo, entering a product name, description and price, confirming your location and posting.
Concerning the security and privacy of the users, Bowen Pan, the project manager has this to say:
It has well as a whole host of flags that people that can put out for people that may not be acting in the best faith. Once we see a flag, we have a team that will promptly review these and take action. Still, Facebook won’t take responsibility if you get ripped off, and it certainly will not get involved if someone decides to assault you and steal your item at the designated meeting place.
The feature will be rolled out to users over the age of 18 years in the US, UK, Australia, and New Zealand in a matter of days. It will be available to other countries as time goes on. Facebook also plans to make it available for desktop users in a few months time.

Israeli Company Can Crack Any Smartphone’s Password

Remember that FBI-Apple encryption dispute that dragged on earlier this year? Well apparently, there is an Israeli company that claims to be able to crack the password of any smartphone in use today. Incidentally, this was the same company that helped the FBI gain access to the data on the locked iPhone 5C that Apple refused to open. That right folks, the FBI turned to Cellebrite to unlock San Bernardino shooter Syed Farooks’ iPhone 5C. Mr. Yuval Ben-Moshe of Israel-based Cellebrite told the BBC that his firm could break into “the largest number of devices that are out there in the industry”. Not even the new iPhone 7 is safe. Mr. Ben-Moshe was pretty confident that they could hack an iPhone 7 too. According to the company’s website, “Cellebrite is the world leader in delivering cutting-edge mobile forensic solution”. Their Universal Forensic Extraction Device (UFED) can extract, decode, analyze, and report data from smartphones, tablets, portable GPS devices, and memory cards.
Cellebrite’s mobile forensics technology equipment consists of standalone devices, software based mobile devices, field operations devices, GPS units, and forensics software that detects communication and movement patterns. The procedure for extracting data is as simple as plugging a smartphone to the Cellebrite device and activating the software. A few button presses later, the phone is unlocked, and data can be extracted and analyzed. Cellebrite has clearly proven that smartphones and other devices can be hacked for the right reasons. But in the wrong hands no one’s privacy safe. We can only hope that companies continue to develop encryption technologies that keep user privacy protected one hack at a time.

Whether you are new to Android and eager to try out every available option you see on the screen, or familiar with the system, including the annoyances that plague you on a daily basis, tips and tricks to get around a system is always helpful. We are here to help you with that.

In this post, we are featuring 10 useful Android tips and tricks that may improve your experience while using your Android device. Do note that the steps may vary a little from one Android phone to another due to the differences in the build and the OS version, but if you play around with it, the next step isn’t too far off.

1. Disable App Notifications

Bugged by annoying app notifications that just keep coming? If you don’t know already, these app notifications also drain your phone’s battery. If you want to turn them off, and you are on Jelly Bean 4.1 and above, here’s how:
  1. On any of your unwanted notifications in your notification bar, long press on the notification for a message box to appear.
  2. Tap on App Info > Untick Show Notifications ; OK.

2. Disable Mobile Data

Whenever you don’t need to stay connected, disabling the Mobile Data can help keep your smartphone battery from draining too quickly. Turning off mobile data is as easy as:
  1. Going to Settings > Data Usage.
  2. Disable Mobile data by toggling the setting from ON to OFF.

  3. Head over to Settings > Data Usage.
  4. Set your data limit by dragging the orange line to reflect your monthly quota.

Is It Better to Get a Tablet With 4G LTE or Wi-Fi Only?

There are still many good reasons to buy a tablet, and when you’re buying one, your biggest choice is between an iPad or Android device. Or maybe even opting for Windows instead.

Then the next big decision is whether to go for a Wi-Fi-only model or to pay extra for the 4G version. Let’s take a look at some of the issues you’ll need to consider.

    4G LTE on a Tablet

With a 4G-enabled tablet and a data plan, you’ll get full internet access without needing to stay within range of a Wi-Fi hotspot. You get Wi-Fi too, of course, so you can continue to use that at home, switching only to 4G when it’s needed.
The availability and performance of 4G varies from one country to another. According to OpenSignal, coverage is more than 80 percent in the U.S. with an average download speed of 10 Mbps. In the U.K., it’s 53 percent coverage with an average speed of 15 Mbps.
LTE performance can be considerably faster in the largest cities, easily rivaling the speeds you’d get from a fixed broadband connection. Conversely, in more rural areas, coverage and speed can be patchy.

Price of 4G LTE vs. Wi-Fi Only

For many of us, the biggest factor in choosing between 4G or Wi-Fi-only will be the price. The simple act of adding an LTE radio to a tablet typically adds around 20 percent or more to the price. For an iPad Air, there’s a $130 premium on the 4G model. For a Surface 3, it’s $100.

Even if you’ve got the extra cash to spend, you should consider whether you really need 4G or if you’d be better spending the money on a higher specced model instead. For the same price as the 4G Surface 3, for instance, you can get a Wi-Fi-only version with double the RAM and double the storage.

    Ongoing Data Costs

The up-front price is only the beginning. There’s no point in having a 4G tablet without a 4G data plan to use with it.

4G data is expensive and most plans come with strict usage limits (even T-Mobile’s “unlimited” plan has a fair use policy that can kick in after you’ve used 26 GB of data in a month). You can expect to pay upwards of $20 per month just for a couple of gigabytes — over a two year period, that means you’ll pay double the price of a Wi-Fi-only tablet, and often quite a bit more.

Convenience of 4G LTE vs. Wi-Fi Only

The big selling point for a 4G tablet is convenience. So long as you are in an area with good network coverage, you’ll have seamless connectivity wherever you are.
But how much of this will be on the mobile network?

4G serves as a backup connection, meaning that tablets will always default to a Wi-Fi connection whenever one is available. Now think about how often you have access to Wi-Fi: at home, in the office, at school, at friends’ houses, in your local coffee shop, and countless other places.
Even trains and buses are increasingly offering Wi-Fi these days. So on second thought, you might actually need 4G less often than you imagine.

    Is Mobile Tethering an Alternative?

But there’s no getting away from the fact that when you do need a data connection, you really need one. Your phone can pick up the slack (to an extent) for things like email, social media, and the web. And you can also use it as a mobile hotspot, sharing your phone’s data connection with your tablet.

How To Improve iOS 9 Battery Life – iPhone, iPad & iPod Tips

Hey guys, here I am going to share with you some quick battery saving tips for iOS 9.

How To Improve iOS 9 Battery Life After updating iOS 9, I have read on many forums from other people that “iOS 9 made my battery life so much worse, and it’s laggy and slow“.
So, this article will help you fix both of those issues but mostly I will be focusing on getting the most battery life out of your iOS 9 devices.
First of all I want to tell you one thing, iOS 9 itself introduces low power mode and on its own it makes your battery life better by one hour.
So, as you guys know, all you need to do to enable low power mode is to go into the battery settings and enable Low Power Mode. This will extend your battery life by four hours or at least up to four hours when you have that little yellow
I don’t know whether you knows or not, so want to mention that when you do enable Low power mode, it actually limit CPU usage by up to 40%, so your performance will go down, and things will be a little laggy.
But, I guess it is worth to sacrifice when you really need to enhance your battery life. Just want you to aware that your performance will go down to that of an iPhone 5s.
Besides this, what can you do to extend your battery and surprisingly there is so much. I am going to let you know everything I know about How to improve iOS 9 battery life.
Whether or not you want to go ahead and enable these features or disable them that will be up to you because some of these do cripple your device a little bit. But I will tell you from most extreme to least extreme.

How To Improve iOS 9 Battery Life Tips

    1. Background App Refresh
Probably the biggest feature that has the most significant impact on battery life is the Background App Refresh.
So, this is where your background applications keep refreshing, and they use your processing power and battery life.
You need to disable the Background app refresh option in order to restrict the background Application refreshing.
    2. Notifications
Next, I want you guys to go into your notifications options and disable notifications of everything you don’t need like games, tips, podcasts, etc.
Because all those stuff drains your battery life by giving notifications, you don’t need. So everything that you don’t use in Notifications then go ahead and turn it off because this helps with speed and battery life believe it or not.
Display – You have to disable Auto Brightness. Usually, you should keep brightness at about half way because that’s a good happy medium between too extreme and way too bright.
And it will not blind your eyes too.
Control Centre – Next is to go to your control centre, if everything is on there then you are wasting a ton of battery life for no reason.
Also, turn off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi when you don’t need it, but use Wi-Fi when you’re at home because if you don’t have access to a battery charger, then using Wi-Fi instead of LTE or data will extend your battery life greatly.
    3. Handoff and Suggested Apps
Now if you don’t have a Mac computer then your Handoff settings should be off because the only reason you have to communicate with your Mac computer or with an iPad and pick it up where you left off.
And also turn off the suggested apps as well if you don’t need it. That feature is basically on your lock screen. Whenever you are near Starbucks or Bank America, then you have that app on your device.
It will actually pop up in the left corner of your phone based on your location, I think it’s a little bit pointless but could be convenient for some people.
    4. App and iTunes Store
Go to you App and iTunes Store and disable automatic updates and if suggested apps are on then, you should turn them off.
So, that way you will save a lot of processing power and battery life as well by not running tasks in the background and you can also save a little amount of data by this.
    5. Privacy
    1. Motion and Fitness – If you don’t care about fitness tracking, and you don’t track it, your device regularly uses your data from the M8 coprocessor and collect it. So you need to disable it so that it won’t track your movements.
    2. Advertising – Go to the Advertising setting and disable Limit Ad Tracking. Limit Ad Tracking not only help limit the types of advertising they place on Safari web browser but saves a little bit battery life as well.
    3. Location Services – You should turn off location services when you are not using it. You can better filter the apps down there that you want to enable or disable. You can go further into System services to turn off the apps you don’t need. So this is what your iPhone does in the background, it tracks you and save all your locations and frequent locations. It helps with Siri pro-activity, so if you disable it, then Siri pro-activity won’t be as effective.
    6. iCloud
iCloud has many options inside of it so whichever one of these you don’t use, you need to turn it off. For example, if you don’t sync calendars and any other one that you don’t sync with your iCloud account, just turn them off. Also iCloud Keychain, not only this thing is most annoying when it comes to notifications that keep reminding you over and over again. So turn if off because it does help you with battery life a little bit.
    7. Mail, Contacts, and Calendar
Go ahead and disable Fetch New Data so this means you have to go manually into the mail application to refresh for your mail. So that’s the way it’s not always searching your emails.
So, overall these are the most effective things you can do to keep your battery life up. Now, I am going to let you know the last few things that could extend your battery life by the few minutes when you need them the most.
    Airplane Mode
Turn off the Airplane Mode when you are not using it. It will limit the cellular searching for service and communications, and that would save some battery life as well.
    Sounds
Turn off the vibration mode as it saves every little bit juice where it counts.
    Privacy
Go to Diagnostic & Usage and disable the Don’t send option that restrict sending daily Diagnostic & usage data and it also turn off data collection on your Apple watch. It helps your battery life to extend a little bit.
    Settings
Accessibility – Go into General and then accessibility and there are two things you can do increase battery life. First of Increase Contrast, this will reduce transparency and make your device faster. But, after this your phone will look a little bit different as the things will be darker.
Reduce Motion – Disable the Reduce Motion that will reduce the parallax effects on your home screen so that you no longer get fancy animations, but it will make your device little faster as well.
When you have your phone on your desk, you can help save battery by keeping it face down. When you get notifications iOS, 9 will not light up the screen when you have it face down because iOS 9 uses proximity sensors. So it uses as an advantage to the battery life.
Besides this, you can restart your device once a day that does help to keep things running smoothly and enhance the battery life as well.
One last thing is let your battery dies once in a month all the way down so that your iPhone shuts down completely and then charge it up to 100%.
It is called battery reconditioning / calibrating, and it helps to keep your battery in tip top shape to ensure maximum performance.
So, that is how to get the most of the battery life out of iOS. I have told you to the most extremes, but if you pick and choose which one settings need in this article, you can get the most performance without crippling your device.
